There seems to be a lot of confusion around the difference between coaches, consultants, and advisors.

I am often asked what the difference is, so let me attempt to clarify:

  • A coach is someone you hire who tells you what to do…you do it..and they hold you accountable.
  • A consultant is someone you hire who helps you figure out what needs to be done, and then they do it for you.
  • An advisor is a partner to you and your business. They jump head first with you into the quicksand and help you figure out where you are and want to go, and how to take the right steps and actions to move forward. A good adviser challenges you to think and see the world differently. They tell you the truth even when it hurts. They bring people, partners, solutions and capabilities into view, when you need them most to bridge your challenges and accelerate your progress.
